Who can join? Why join?

Anyone and everyone should join. This is a club for anyone who wants to learn more about how to make a positive change involving environmental and social issues related to business.

How did you get involved?

I was looking for an opportunity to learn more about business and how corporations are impacting the societies around them. After hearing a speech about what Net Impact does and how they connect people together to make a difference in the world through business, this was the exact thing I was looking for.

What is your best memory?

Last year, our club went to a conference in Portland. It was an amazing event learning about sustainability issues, and our club connected more on this trip than any other time before.

What is the community like?

Everyone is extremely open, and we push each other to better ourselves through sharing our knowledge, opinions and experiences. We all have different areas of interest and come together to learn from each other. Since I joined Net Impact, having the ability to talk to and understand so many different viewpoints have helped my ability to gain insight that I wouldn’t know where else to get.

When did you first feel a sense of belonging on campus?

Initially, as a nontraditional student, I didn’t really feel like I fit in. It wasn’t until I got an undergrad research position that I started to feel like I was meant to be here. After joining the Net Impact club, the feeling of belonging has dramatically increased.

How have you grown from being involved?

I’m a nuclear engineering student, and Net Impact has opened up new opportunities and shined new perspectives on topics that I hadn’t thought of before. Net Impact has shown me a path where I can combine my engineering background with business.
