Who can join? Why join?

Anyone can join this club. No prior riding or polo experience is required. For that reason, I think everyone should get involved, as this is a unique experience and an excellent opportunity to try something new while meeting a bunch of great people.

How did you get involved?

A friend of mine was a member of the club. When I found out, I reached out to him for more information, and here I am now.

What is your best memory?

It’s impossible to single out a memory, as every experience with this club is amazing. We travel a lot during our regular season, and every trip with such a good group of people is as memorable as the next.

What is the community like?

Polo is an interesting sport that isn’t very common, so it’s always fun to provide an opportunity for people in Corvallis to come watch. This club has also introduced me to a large polo community in the Northwest, which has been great.

When did you first feel a sense of belonging on campus?

I was in Greek life freshman year, so because of that, I’ve always felt like I had something on campus. Polo just expanded that network of people and experiences since it is different than anything else you’ll do on campus. It provided me with a group of individuals who were like-minded and dedicated to a purpose — that purpose being horsemanship and competition.

How have you grown from being involved?

I’ve definitely grown since I’ve been in this club. Being the club president and having to manage not only the people, but horses and schedules and everything else has been a real test. But in the end, it has definitely been beneficial.
